Readers first met Sunny Citrusblossom in Teelie Turner’s commemorative book, Patriotic Patsy and Fairyland’s Grand American Celebration, where she joined Patriotic Patsy and her Fairyland friends for the magical celebration of America’s 250th Birthday. 
But every fairy who arrived for Patsy’s grand celebration has a story of her own—and a special place in Fairyland she calls home. Today, we’re following Sunny beyond the pages of the book and into her bright, citrus-filled world to discover where she lives, what she loves, how she spends her days, and the colorful little companion who is rarely far from her side.
Where Does Sunny Citrusblossom Live?
Step Inside the Sunniest Corner of Fairyland
There are some places in Fairyland you discover by following a map, and others you find simply by following the magic. If you happen to be wandering beyond Fairyland Castle and suddenly notice the air growing warmer and the delicate fragrance of orange blossoms drifting on the breeze, you may be getting very close to the home of Sunny Citrusblossom.
The path to Sunny’s home winds beneath orange trees heavy with bright fruit and fragrant white blossoms. Butterflies dance between the flowers, tiny fairy lights sparkle among the branches, and golden sunshine filters through the leaves as though this particular corner of Fairyland has been given a little more sunshine than everywhere else.
Readers may already recognize Sunny from Teelie Turner’s commemorative book, Patriotic Patsy and Fairyland’s Grand American Celebration. Sunny joined Patsy and their Fairyland friends for the unforgettable celebration of America’s 250th Birthday. But today, we’re leaving the celebration behind for a while and following Sunny home, where another part of her story is waiting to be discovered.
And Sunny won’t be welcoming us alone. Listen carefully as you approach the gate. That cheerful chatter coming from the orange trees belongs to Mango, Sunny’s colorful little parakeet, best friend, garden assistant, and—according to Mango—official supervisor of nearly everything.
Welcome to Citrus Blossom Cottage
At the end of the garden path, Citrus Blossom Cottage appears between the orange trees. Its creamy white walls, warm terracotta roof, aqua-green front door, and coral shutters seem perfectly at home among the flowers. Bougainvillea tumbles across the porch, orange blossoms frame the windows, and little lanterns line the path beside baskets filled with freshly picked fruit.
Sunny is usually near the gate when friends arrive, and Mango is rarely far away. In fact, he has developed a habit of announcing visitors before they have a chance to knock. The welcome sign says, “Citrus Blossom Cottage — Home of Sunny & Mango — Sunshine Is Always Welcome,” although Mango seems to feel his name deserves slightly larger lettering.
The cottage is beautiful, but what visitors notice first is how happy it feels. Nothing is overly perfect or precious. Flowers spill where they please, gardening baskets wait beside the porch, and there always seems to be an extra chair waiting for a friend.
Mornings on Sunny’s Porch
Sunny’s favorite time of day is early morning, when the citrus grove is still quiet and sunlight first begins to filter through the leaves. She settles into her wicker chair with a cup of citrus-blossom tea and her notebook, while the scent of oranges and flowers drifts across the veranda.
This is where Sunny plans her days. Some mornings she writes down recipes she wants to try; other mornings she sketches flowers, makes lists of friends she wants to visit, or dreams up new projects for Fairyland. Sunny has always believed that a good day often begins with deciding what little bit of happiness you can add to it.
Mango has a morning routine of his own. He checks the orange trees, inspects the flowers, flies along the garden path, and eventually makes his way back to Sunny’s breakfast. Sunny insists that inspecting her food is not one of his official duties. Mango has heard this many times and continues to disagree.
Step Inside Citrus Blossom Cottage
Walking through Sunny’s aqua-green front door is a little like stepping into a summer morning. Sunlight fills the cottage through tall windows overlooking the grove, while creamy whites, soft aqua, coral, peach, leafy green, and sunny yellow bring the colors of the garden indoors.
The sitting room is comfortable rather than formal, with floral cushions, baskets of oranges, little vases of freshly picked blossoms, books, photographs, and treasures Sunny has gathered over the years. French doors stand open whenever the weather allows, making it difficult to tell where the cottage ends and the garden begins.
Sunny believes a home should tell you something about the person who lives there. Citrus Blossom Cottage certainly does. It is cheerful, welcoming, colorful, and filled with things meant to be shared.
Mango has also contributed to the decorating, although Sunny suspects several objects have been moved simply because Mango decided they looked better somewhere else.
The Sunshine Room
At the back of the cottage is a room Sunny treasures almost as much as her garden. She calls it the Sunshine Room, and one look upward explains why. Tall windows and a beautiful glass ceiling allow sunlight to pour inside from morning until late afternoon.
Orange trees grow in enormous painted pots, flowering vines climb white trellises, and shelves hold gardening books, seed packets, pressed flowers, paints, brushes, ribbons, and notebooks. This is where Sunny comes when she wants to create. She might spend one afternoon painting, another arranging flowers, and the next writing down an idea that arrived while she was working in the garden.
Mango technically has his own perch beside the window. It is a lovely perch with an excellent view, and Sunny chose it especially for him.

Sunny has accepted that some battles are simply not worth fighting.
A Very Special Memory of Patriotic Patsy
Not every room in Citrus Blossom Cottage is filled with projects and flowers. Sunny also keeps a quiet little Memory and Treasure Room, where she saves reminders of the people, places, and moments that have shaped her life.
Pressed flowers rest inside albums alongside letters from friends. Photographs fill ornate frames, while ribbons, handmade gifts, travel keepsakes, and tiny treasures sit carefully on the shelves. Sunny doesn’t collect these things because they are valuable. She keeps them because every one of them carries a story.
At the center of the room is one particularly beautiful treasure: a sparkling America 250 commemorative crystal sun from Fairyland’s Grand American Celebration. Beneath it are the words “Fairyland’s Grand American Celebration — America 250 • 1776–2026.” Beside the crystal sun is a photograph of Sunny with her dear friend Patriotic Patsy, taken during the extraordinary celebration that brought their Fairyland friends together for America’s 250th Birthday.
Whenever Sunny looks at the photograph, she remembers much more than the fireworks and festivities. She remembers the friendships, laughter, excitement, and feeling of everyone coming together for something special.
That is why the crystal sun has such an important place in her home. Its sparkle is beautiful, but the memory behind it is what makes it priceless.
Sunny’s Magical Citrus Garden
Eventually, every visit to Citrus Blossom Cottage leads back outside because Sunny’s garden is impossible to resist. Behind the cottage, orange trees create winding pathways beneath branches filled with fruit and blossoms. Bougainvillea climbs over arches, hibiscus and jasmine grow beside daisies and lavender, and butterflies seem to be everywhere at once.
Sunny spends hours here tending her plants, gathering oranges, planting flowers, and creating little places where friends can sit and talk. She grows herbs beside her citrus trees and keeps baskets along the pathways so visitors can pick a few oranges to take home.
There is only one real rule in Sunny’s garden: take what you need and leave something beautiful behind.
Sunny doesn’t necessarily mean another flower. Sometimes the beautiful thing you leave behind is a kind word, a helping hand, or simply a smile for the next person who walks down the path.

Meet Mango
If Sunny is the sunshine of Citrus Blossom Cottage, Mango is definitely its soundtrack.
His sunny-yellow chest, brilliant turquoise and lime-green wings, touches of coral, and tiny orange-blossom accessory make him nearly impossible to miss as he darts through the grove. Mango loves accompanying Sunny everywhere, although “accompanying” may be too calm a word for his particular style.
He flies ahead to investigate something, circles back to tell Sunny what he has discovered, spots something else, and takes off again. By the time Sunny reaches the end of the garden path, Mango may have traveled it six times.
Sunny knew almost immediately when she met him that they belonged together. They both love flowers, sunshine, busy days, friends, and—perhaps most importantly—oranges.
Mango isn’t simply Sunny’s pet. He is her companion, her helper, her source of endless entertainment, and one of the reasons Citrus Blossom Cottage always feels so full of life.
A Taste of Sunny’s Fairyland
Of course, no visit to Sunny’s home would be complete without something delicious. Sunny loves setting a table outdoors beneath the orange trees and filling it with treats inspired by her garden.
Miniature orange-blossom cakes sit beside citrus cupcakes, lemon tarts, orange-and-vanilla cookies, fresh berries, and tiny fruit pastries. Sparkling orange lemonade fills glass pitchers, and everything is served on cheerful fairy china decorated with orange blossoms and tiny butterflies.
Sunny loves this part of entertaining—not because she enjoys showing off what she has made, but because she loves watching friends gather around a table. Conversations begin, stories are exchanged, someone laughs, and suddenly an ordinary afternoon becomes a memory.
Mango wholeheartedly supports Sunny’s philosophy that food should be shared.
Unfortunately, his interpretation of “sharing” occasionally involves sampling a pastry before Sunny has finished setting the table.
She always notices.
She usually lets him get away with it anyway.
When the Orange Grove Begins to Glow
By evening, Citrus Blossom Cottage feels different again. The brilliant afternoon sunshine softens as the sky turns peach, coral, lavender, and gold. Lanterns flicker to life along the pathways, fairy lights begin twinkling among the orange trees, and tiny fireflies dance between blossoms that seem almost luminous in the fading light.
Sunny often returns to the porch at this hour. Mango settles nearby while she holds a warm drink and watches the last sunlight disappear beyond Fairyland’s hills. Some evenings she thinks about what she wants to accomplish tomorrow. Other evenings she remembers the friends who visited that day or something funny Mango did in the garden.
And sometimes she doesn’t think about anything at all.
She simply sits.
Sunny has learned that happiness doesn’t always arrive with fireworks, grand celebrations, or extraordinary adventures. Sometimes it is much quieter. It can be sunshine warming your face, sharing something you grew with a friend, helping someone who needs you, or sitting on a porch at sunset with a little parakeet who has finally stopped talking for five minutes.
Those moments count too.
In fact, Sunny thinks they may be some of the most magical ones.

If you ever find yourself wandering through Fairyland and catch the scent of orange blossoms on the breeze, follow it. The path may lead you beneath branches filled with oranges, past butterflies and glowing lanterns, until a cheerful aqua-green door appears ahead.
Sunny will probably be somewhere in the garden. Mango will almost certainly announce your arrival long before you reach the gate. And somewhere on the porch, there will be an empty chair waiting for you.
Because Sunny Citrusblossom believes there is one thing everyone has enough of to share:
a little sunshine.
And sometimes, in Fairyland and everywhere else, a little sunshine is exactly what someone needs.
